Joel Matheson
Joel served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Jamaica from 2018 to 2020. He was based in St. Thomas (undoubtedly the best parish on the island!), where he worked alongside smallholder farmers and local community groups in the agriculture sector.
During the pandemic, he organized the Hayfield Accessibility Ramp Project, a grassroots fundraiser partially supported by Friends of Jamaica. That connection led him to join the Friends of Jamaica team in 2022.
Joel holds a Master’s degree from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor’s degree from Boise State University. Outside of his work, he enjoys rock climbing, photography, and exploring the world.
